Senior Manager/Supervisor
About the Role:
You'll be responsible for providing strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for the organization's education and community engagement initiatives meeting impact and revenue goals for the company. You'll develop innovative educational programming, cultivates meaningful community partnerships, expands access to the performing arts, and ensures education and engagement programs align with the organization's artistic mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to serving diverse audiences throughout the region.

You'll be responsible for providing strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for the organization's education and community engagement initiatives meeting impact and revenue goals for the company. You'll develop innovative educational programming, cultivates meaningful community partnerships, expands access to the performing arts, and ensures education and engagement programs align with the organization's artistic mission, strategic priorities, and commitment to serving diverse audiences throughout the region.
What You'll Do:
- Provide strategic leadership for all education and community engagement programs, including youth, school, adult learning, workforce development, and community-based initiatives.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive education and community engagement strategy that supports the organization's mission, artistic programming, audience development, and long-term strategic goals.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of educational programming, including academies, camps, workshops, residencies, master classes, student matinees, school partnerships, and community initiatives.
- Build and sustain collaborative relationships with schools, educators, community organizations, government agencies, artists, donors, and other stakeholders to expand access to performing arts education.
- Develop and manage the department's annual operating budget, monitor expenditures and revenues, approve departmental spending, and ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources.
- Partner with the Development department to support grant applications, reporting requirements, sponsorship opportunities, and fundraising efforts related to education and community engagement programs.
- Collaborate with Artistic, Production, Marketing, Development, and Operations leadership to integrate education and engagement initiatives throughout the organization.
- Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate education staff, teaching artists, contractors, faculty, volunteers, and seasonal personnel while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback, enrollment trends, community impact measures, and other performance metrics, using data to inform future program development.
- Represent the organization at community events, conferences, advisory groups, and public meetings to strengthen organizational visibility and community relationships.
- Serve as staff liaison to Board committees related to education and community engagement and provide regular updates regarding departmental goals, outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure all education and engagement activities comply with organizational policies, safety standards, child protection practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of arts education, community engagement, nonprofit program administration, and performing arts organizations.

- Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Arts Education, Education, Theater, Performing Arts, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Demonstrated related experience may substitute for preferred education.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in arts education, community engagement, nonprofit program management, or a related field required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience leading professional staff, teaching artists, contractors, or multidisciplinary teams required.
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing departmental budgets, educational programming, and strategic initiatives.
- Experience cultivating community partnerships, collaborating with schools and nonprofit organizations, and supporting fundraising or grant-funded programming preferred.
