Are you an outside-the-box thinker with a hunger for success?  At Raco Steel Company, we are looking to expand our reach with a sales person in our south suburban Chicago-area location.  In this role, you will work closely with critical cross-functional teams to optimize sales at Raco to achieve significant growth goals.

Who we seek:

With prior selling experience in the steel industry, you will be responsible for growing business by selling our value-added steel products such as precision-cut steel blanks, leveled sheets, slit and master coils. This is a results-oriented role where you will be generously rewarded for your success and the company's growth, from an individual and team perspective, as we continue to hit new milestones. There will strong financial incentives for achieving the company's growth targets. The position requires the candidate to reside within 75 miles of the Chicago area. 

What you will do:

  • Responsible for managing and expanding the company’s existing accounts, as well as prospecting to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Represent the company in a positive and professional manner and maintain good customer relations throughout the sales process.
  • Oversee and ensure successful fulfillment of orders, working closely with finance, production, and logistics.
  • Interact directly with customers to provide status updates and fulfill service needs.
  • Understand customer needs/processes and coordinate with the timely shipping of our products and oversee the customer feedback process to improve customer service and satisfaction levels.
  • Responsible for managing customer claims in a prompt manner, up to and including satisfactory resolution of their claims.
  • Promptly react to inbound new sales leads and quote our products and services capabilities to existing and potential new customers on a timely basis.
  • Follow-up on new opportunities and quotes to understand if any objections (price, lead time or other).
  • Resolve objections in a favorable manner to close a sale and/or position Raco to receive new sales opportunities in the future.

What you need:

  • Experience in steel processing or metals-related industry, steel sales (blank, leveled sheets, or slit coils) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized and with ability to manage own time effectively and to work autonomously to achieve results.
  • Strong track record of developing long-term relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of Customer Relationship Management software (CRM).
