Director of Development - Renewables
Exus is seeking a Director of Development - Renewables. The Director of Development – East, will direct and oversee active development of projects within Exus’ portfolio, primary focus on solar and wind located in the Eastern area of the United States, including but not limited to PJM and southern MISO states. This position will be responsible for the oversight, and when applicable, management of projects within the Exus development portfolio. Additionally, this role will be responsible for reviewing M&A opportunities as they are presented.

Key Responsibilities:
- Creates and executes project development plans/schedules to meet project deliverables and objectives.
- Ensures the project is developed and resourced appropriately to reach critical milestone dates.
- Selects and manages external contractors and consultants while developing positive relationships.
- Develops, maintains, and reviews project budgets from inception to COD.
- Manage and mentor a project team while leading all aspects of project development, including, but not limited to, local/state/federal permitting, zoning approvals, land acquisition, title curative work, interconnection, stakeholder outreach, community engagement, engineering studies, and commercial negotiation.
- Generates and reviews internal reports for projects, personnel, associated budgets, and schedules.
- Identify or originate new growth opportunities.
- Coordinate across inter-company departments (i.e., EPC, Commercial, M&A, Interconnection, etc.)
- Perform and lead due diligence review of prospective wind, solar, and/or storage development acquisitions.
- Identifies project constraints and develops appropriate response plans.
- Support project finance, off-take RFP and permitting submissions, and project acquisition efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent relevant experience, master’s preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in Director level or similar position with relevant and comparable construction projects.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state permitting regimes, including county use permits, ordinance, state siting processes and federal permitting laws (NEPA, ESA, CWA, etc.)
- Familiar with project development in PJM, MISO, NYISO and NE-ISO
- Strong track record of successful development in wind, solar, and/or storage development.
- Experience managing and interacting with remote and/or indirect internal and external resources, including consultants and contractors.
- Travel up to 50% of the time domestically. Includes travel to remote project locations, contractor offices/facilities, company offices and events, and technical conferences.
- If not located in Pittsburgh, PA, must be able to travel to the Pittsburgh headquarters office for one-week, once a month.
