About the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled and creative Steward to join a prestigious and private members' club located in Washington, DC servicing UHNW clientele. The club offers a refined dining experience to its distinguished membership. This role is integral to the culinary team, with a focus on delivering exceptional culinary offerings and contributing to an elevated and memorable dining experience.

Position Overview
The Steward (Dishwasher) plays a vital support role on the kitchen team, by ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all dishes, utensils, cooking equipment, and kitchen areas. This role helps maintain a clean and organized back-of-house environment and contributes to a safe and efficient culinary operation.

Principal (Essential) Duties
  1. Ensures all dishes are properly prepared, sanitized, and placed in the correct location.
  2. Scrapes, rinses, and loads dishes, utensils, and cookware into dishwashing machines.
  3. Hand-washed large pots, pans, and specialty kitchen equipment as needed.
  4. Properly unloaded and organizes clean items into designated storage areas.
  5. Maintains cleanliness of the dishwashing station and surrounding areas.
  6. Empties trash cans and clean receptacles; reline cans as necessary.
  7. Sweeps, mops, and pressure washes floors to maintain a sanitary kitchen environment.
  8. Follows all sanitation and safety procedures in compliance with health regulations.
  9. Assists with receiving and storing kitchen supplies when needed.
  10. Communicates breakage or equipment issues to supervisor promptly.
  11. Supports culinary team with other cleaning or prep duties as assigned.
  12. Enforces strict health and hygiene standards in assigned station; maintain and strictly abide by state sanitation/health regulations and club requirements.
  13. Attends daily briefings, meetings, and trainings as required.
  14. Reports to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed, and in the correct uniform.
  15. Makes sure the kitchen is properly closed and complete the closing tasks, check out with Sous Chef/Executive Chef before leaving.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. Prior experience in a high-end or fast-paced kitchen environment preferred.
  2. Understanding of sanitation and food safety standards (training can be provided).
  3. Ability to work efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
  4. Ability to satisfactorily communicate in job-related English.
  5. Ability to work varied shifts and flexible schedule.  
  6. Ability to work varied shift and flexible schedule in a hot, humid, and nosey environment.

The salary range for this role is $42,000-$52,000, based on relevant experience.
