INPAX Academy of Personal Protection exists to provide the training, tools and tradecraft necessary to change the way people think and live in the world, and as result, develop a sense of confidence and security that transcends and positively influences all aspects of their lives. INPAX is the region’s premier indoor firing range, retail outfitter and personal security training academy – and we want you to join us!

We are seeking individuals to serve as Range Safety Officers (RSO) on our indoor firing range.

General Description / Purpose                                                                                                                                    

  • Ensure range safety for all members, customers, employees and visitors
  • Assist users with basic firearm handling techniques
  • Ensure range is operating in accordance with INPAX policies at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all bays, range and rental areas
  • Assist customers with range check-in including selling ammunition, renting firearms, assigning lanes and processing cash register transactions

Work Schedule                                                                                                                                   

  • This is a part-time, non-exempt role.
  • Schedule may vary from week to week to meet the needs of the facility, however reasonable schedule preferences may be granted at the discretion of management
  • Facility Hours:
    • Monday-Saturday: 10am-9pm
    • Sunday: 10am-6pm
  • Opening shifts may be required to begin their shift up to one hour prior to open and closing shifts may be required to work up to one hour after close
  • After hour shifts to accommodate special circumstances, such as physical inventory, range maintenance, special events or restocking may be occasionally assigned at the discretion of management

Primary Responsibilities                                                                                                                                              

  • Work with management and facilities staff to ensure the filtration, bullet trap and target retrieval systems are properly maintained
  • Ensure safety on the range by observing all users and respectfully, but immediately ceasing any behavior that could be considered unsafe or in violation of INPAX policy
  • Assist in opening and closing of range and retail operation
  • Display knowledge of and alignment with INPAX mission, purpose and goals
  • Operate facility equipment including cash registers, scanners, telephones, computer system and range equipment
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the facility security policy and procedures
  • Operate, demonstrate and explain merchandise and rental equipment
  • Understand and be proficient in restricted and non-restricted sales, refunds/returns, member and non-member use of the facilities
  • Stay current on product knowledge, general firearms laws and safety procedures
  • Knowledge of firearm rentals, range equipment and basic gunsmithing to be able to clear basic malfunctions while on the range
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience Requirements                                                                                                                     

  • Must be 21 years of age or older for this role
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Range safety officer certification from an accredited organization such as NRA, strongly preferred
  • Law enforcement, military, security officer or shooting range experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated with exceptional customer service, communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to multitask.
  • Must be alert, sharp, decisive, tactful and good with confrontation
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and telephone protocol
  • Willingness and ability to complete INPAX RSO certification then complete an annual shooting qualification
  • Ability to legally obtain a Concealed Weapons Permit within the 90-days of hire
  • High degree of discretion dealing with confidential information

Physical Requirements                                                                                                            

  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with meal break.
  • Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, carry and move items up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Ability to distinguish color to perform job functions.
  • Ability to hear and respond appropriately to range commands and facility announcements
